MENTAL WORKLOAD ANALYSIS ON POWER PLANT OPERATOR
PLN SEKTOR MAHAKAM USING NASA-TASK LOAD INDEX METHOD

ABSTRACT

PLN Sektor Mahakam is one of PLN unit in East Kalimantan area which operates in the power generate bussiness, consist of 4 varied generators those are2 DPP, 1 GPP and 1 CCPP. Worksystem from each of the varied machine caused different mental workload on the operator of each unit from the power plant. To find out the exact value of mental workload that operator experienced, knowing the most dominant indicators mental workload while doing the task, and evaluate existing work system then its necessary to take the research to measure and analyze the power plant operators as well as to evaluate properly about the performance of the power plant operators in PLN Sektor Mahakam can be optimized and the performance to serve the public can take place properly. The method used in measurement of operator mental workload is the NASAA-TLX. The method is simple, but highly sensitive and it’s the most suitable method used in PLN Sektor Mahakam because the difference of each condition and also suitability to the task of power plant operators.Mental workload measurement were performed using NASA-TLX method and theobtained average result of mental workload of operatorsKarangAsam DPP 64.79, Kledang DPP 77,79, Sambera GPP 66,10,TanjungBatu CCPP 62.70 where all units in the same category that is high workload. Highest mental workload indicators inKarangAsam DPP is “Physichal Demand”, Kledang DPPis“Effort”, Sambera GPP and TanjungBatu CCPP is “Performance” with the total score of each indicators of the workload on each unit, 1860, 2165, 1505, and 2415. The evaluation was done based on the measurement and analysis has been done to get some suggestions for improvement for the management PLNSektor Mahakam.
