In learning English people have to learn about grammar, with sixteen Tenses that they have to master. For Indonesian students Tenses are very difficult to learn. It is because in Indonesia language is don’t have this kind of rule. Present Continuous Tense is one component of English grammar which is formed with present tense of auxiliary verb be (is, am, are) and the Present continuous Tense in the – ing form of the main verb which is used to express an activity or event in progress at the moment of speaking. Seeing to the explanation above, the writer wants to identify the type of errors on the Present Continuous Tense made by the sixth grade student of elementary school 031 Samarinda Ilir.
Concerning the background of the study above, the problem of the study is as follow: What types of errors do the student make on Present Continuous Tense and which types of errors that frequently occurs on Present Continuous Tense.
The purposes of the study are as follows:
1. To find out the types of errors that students make on Present Continuous Tense.
2. To determine the types of errors students understand the positive sentences, negative and interrogative sentence in the Present Continuous Tense.
This study was a descriptive design. The population of this study is the sixth grade students of elementary school 031 Samarinda Ilir in the 2014/2015 academic year. There is 1 class at the sixth grade students of elementary school 031 Samarinda Ilir. Each class consists of 18 students. The instrument of the research used 25 written test on Present Continuous tense. The test is used to measure the common error made by the sixth grade students of elementary school 031 Samarinda Ilir that cover every items that the student should answer in 60 minutes.
To find the total percentage of error on each type, the writer uses the formula :

From the data analysis shows that the types of errors that the students made on present continuous tense are: addition error, omission error, misordering error and misformation error. The percentage of each error that the students make is presented such as addition error is 22 times or 06,37% of the students, omission error is 199 times or 57,68% of the students, misordering error is 50 times or 14,50% of the students and misformation error is 74 times or 21,45% of the students. The type of error that the students dominantly make on present continuous tense is omission error. According to the percentage of each error made by the students, it can be concluded that most of them make omission error that occur 199 times or 57,68% on Present Continuous Tense.
