Today, communication becomes not only as a base of social interaction, but also improve largely that modern society can survive. With communication, human can understand other people, society, and another ethnic group. So, for this human need a tool to get it called “language”.

The objective of this research is to make students are able to be interactive in their English learning process using short conversation video. And make them easy to speaking English in the classroom. In this study the researcher took quantitative method in which the researcher used pre- experimental method. It means the researcher conducted experiment of teaching speaking by using short conversation video and without using short conversation video to the first-grade students of MTs. Normal Islam Samarinda, then she gave them speaking test (pre-test) after that she gave treatment to the students by teaching speaking with short conversation video about six meeting, then she did speaking test (post-test) with assistance from English teacher of MTs. Normal Islam Samarinda.

After getting data from pre-test and post-test, the researcher analyzed the students’ score by using t-test with significance degree 5%. According to the t-test result, calculation is obtained that tc (computed t) is greater than t table (27.6 >
2.042). in other word, we can say that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the
alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, then it can be concluded that teaching speaking through used short conversation video has an influence towards the students’ speaking achievement of the first-grade students of MTs. Normal Islam Samarinda.
