VARIATIONS OF MORPHEMES ACHIEVED BY FIRST GRADE STUDENTS OF SMK NEGERI 5 SAMARINDA

Samarinda., Advisor: (1) Prof. Dr. Teguh Budiharso, M.Pd, (2) Sunardi, S.S, M.Hum Morpheme is the minimal linguistic unit, which has meaning or grammatical function.
Some of the students were still confused how to use and apply the morpheme into correct and acceptable ways. The studies are importance in teaching and take substantial role to identify student’s achievement.
The purposes of this study are; (1) to find out the variation of morphemes achieved by
first grade students of SMKN 5 Samarinda, (2) to find out the order of morphemes achieved by the first grade of SMKN 5 Samarinda, and (3) to find out whether the variation of morphemes achieved by the students in written differ from the oral test.
The design of this study was content analysis. The instrument of this study was BSM (Bilingual Syntax Measure). To collect the data, the researcher asked the students to make sentences based on the picture in the form of written an oral test. To analyze the data, the researcher used a flow model made by Miles and Huberman, which consists of three concurrent flows activity. They are data reduction, data display, and conclusion activity. The researcher presented the rate percentage of each morpheme as follows; V-ing, plural, irregular past, regular past, third singular person (-s), and possessive (-s).
This study revealed the following findings: first, the variation of morpheme achieved by the students in written test as follows: v-ing, plural (-s), to-be (is, are), article (a, the) irregular past, regular past, third singular person (-s, -es), and (8) possessive (-s). Furthermore, in oral test, the variations are: v-ing, plural (-s), to-be (is, are), article (a, the) irregular past, regular past, third singular person (-s, -es), and possessive (-s). Second, the order of morphemes achieved by the students in written test as follows; (1) v-ing, (2) plural (-s), (3) regular past, (4) possessive (-s), (5) third singular person (-s,-es), and (6) irregular past. While in oral test, the orders are: (1) v-ing, (2) regular past, (3) possessive (-s), (4) third singularperson (-s, -es), (5) plural (-s), and (6) irregular past. Third, the variations of morphemes inwritten and oral test are the same. Moreover, the orders of morpheme in written and oral testshow some similarities and differences. The first and the sixth order in both written and oraltest show similarities, they are v-ing and irregular past morpheme. Meanwhile, the second,third, fourth and fifth show differences. The second order in written test is plural, and in oraltest is regular past. The third order in written test is regular past, while in oral test ispossessive. The fourth order in written test is possessive and in oral test is third singularperson. The fifth order in written test is third singular person, while in oral test is plural.
