MAYA WULANSARI, 2009. “Analysis of Garbage Collectors’ Earnings in Garbage Dump in Bukit Pinang Samarinda”, supervised by Muh. Saleh Mirre as Advisor I and Emmiliya Umma Aziza Gaffar as Advisor II.
This study was proposed to describe the average earnings of the garbage collector in Bukit Pinang Garbage Dump Samarinda to be compared with the standard of Proper Living Needs established by Samarinda Board of Manpower.
The data was analyzed using mean and the hypothesis was tested using t-test. Distribution of t-test has n-1 degree of freedom and bee significan of confidence 0,05 or 5%.
From the analysis, the results showed that the average earnings of the garbage collectors was Rp 948.333,- per month. The sample on this study was 30 respondents and divided into four groups. The first group was 4 single-worker respondents and had Rp 750.000,- average earnings per month. The second group was 3 married worker respondents and had Rp 883.333,- average earnings per month. The third group was 5 married workers respondents with 1 child and had Rp 885.000,- average earnings per month. The last group was 18 respondents of married workers with more than one children and the average earnings per month was Rp 1.020.833,-.
The result then was compared with the standard of Proper Living Needs established by Samarinda Board of Manpower. Based on this standard, the income of single workers is Rp 619.460,- per month, married worker is Rp 889.460,- per month, married workers with 1 child Rp 1.169.460,- per month, and married workers with more than one children is Rp 1.499.460.
