Pneumonia is a worldwide health problem due to the high death rate,Ministry of Health declared each year from 1000 infants who were bornalive there were 5 deaths from pneumonia, 1 person every 3 minutesunder five died. East Kalimantan Province in the year 2007 amounted to 1.69 % of pneumonia cases and in 2008 amounted to 1.72 %. Bontang in 2008 pneumonia in infants and 1.17% in the year 2009 the period fromJanuary to September 1.27 % patients. The Sea in Cape CommunityHealth Center in 2008 cases of pneumonia in infants of 1.22 % and in2009 the period from January to September that is equal to 2.11 %. The purpose of this study is to determine the risk factors in the incidence ofpneumonia in infants Puskesmas Tanjung Laut Bontang city year 2009. This research is an analytical approach "Case Control Study". The study population was the mothers who have children with a sample of 80respondents consisting of sample cases (40 respondents) and the control sample (40 respondents) with a ratio of 1: 1. Non - randomly selected controls the same condition with a case in point is the location.
Results showed that exclusive breastfeeding pneumonia risk factor (OR : 15, lower : 4.450 and upper : 50.567), the density of residential homes pneumonia risk factor (OR : 6.641, lower : 1.732 and upper : 25.465) and the incidence of risk factors house ventilation pneumonia (OR: 3.778, lower : 1.291 and upper : 11.057). Suggested the need for extensive repairs and building ventilation is adjusted by the number of inhabitants of the house (10 m perjiwa) at
home of pneumonia, in order to create a healthy home atmosphere and comfort and the need for education/ information on a continuous andregular as well as risks associated with pneumococcal disease to the mother of toddler .
