The Implementation of the Lesson Plans Used by an English Teacher at SMAN 1 Tanjung Palas Utara in Academic Years 2015/2016

Abstract
This study is focused on the implementation of lesson plan used by an English teacher of the second grade at SMAN 1 Tanjung Palas Utara in academic years 2015/2016. The purposes of this study are intended to find out the implementation of lesson plan used by an English teacher of the second grade at SMAN 1 Tanjung Palas Utara, and the problem faced by the teacher in implementing the lesson plan of the second grade at SMAN 1 Tanjung Palas Utara.
This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Tanjung Palas Utara. The researcher used three steps in collecting the data: (1) copied the teacher lesson plans as the document, (2) conducted the observation by using the teacher observation sheet which were adapted from lesson plans, and (3) conducted interview to the teacher. To analyze the data, the researcher used the step of Miles and Huberman (in Emzir,
2010) which consists of three steps: data reduction, data display, and data conclusion.
The result revealed that the implementation of lesson plan used by the English teacher of the second grade at SMAN 1 Tanjung Palas Utara was the teacher generally implemented his lesson plans by executing the objectives in his lesson plans almost complete to achieve the learning purposes; it was showed from the percentage
84.74 % of the lesson plans were implemented by the teacher in the teaching learning process. The problems faced by the teacher in implementing the lesson plans were divided into external and then internal factors. The external factors were the low students’ vocabularies, indiscipline students’ behavior, unconfident students, and limited learning media. The internal factors were the teacher had load of teaching schedule, and indiscipline teaching time.
The suggestions from the researcher to the teacher are; the teacher should give more attention to the steps of learning activities on his lesson plans, so each step can be completely run and he should give more attention to his time allocation when implementing his lesson plans.
