A modern world that is fast-paced and sometimes less empathetic and advanced technology that is supposed to make life easier becomes a source of frustration for Trent because it was unable to fulfill his needs. In the short film Voice Activated by Steve Anthopolous, the story tells about Trent, a florist who has a stutter. This study aims to identify the types of stuttering experienced by Trent, as well as analyze the relevant behaviors related to stuttering that Trent shows when communicating with others. This research is based on Charles Van Riper's theory
and uses a qualitative approach to analyze the data collected. Data collection was done by watching the short film and deeply analyzing the main character's dialogue, speech, words, phrases, fragments, and behavior related to stuttering. The findings show that Trent experiences three types of stuttering, such as hard block, syllable repetition, and word repetition, and often experiences syllable repetition. Furthermore, Trent showed behaviors such as body tension, facial grimacing, eye blinking, avoiding eye contact, and turning away from the conversational partner.
