THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS' PERCEPTION AND STUDENTS' MOTIVATION IN LEARNING ENGLISH VOCABULARY USING FLASHCARD AS AN ENGLISH VOCABULARY LEARNING SOURCE AT INDEPENDENT ENGLISH LEARNING TUTORING

The researcher of this study believed that the one of the most thing that people should consider to learn is Vocabulary. Vocabulary is one of important part of learning English. Without vocabulary, a person would be not able to communicate using English to other people. Therefore, the researcher aims to find out, especially on students, about learning Vocabulary using flash card for teaching strategy to develop students’ motivation in learning English vocabulary and their perception about flash card. The purposes of this study are: (1) to find out about students’ perception flashcard as an English vocabulary learning source. (2) To find out about students’ motivation in learning English vocabulary using flashcard. (3) To find out whether there is significant correlation between students’ perception and students’ motivation using flashcard as a English vocabulary learning source. The researcher used a quantitative design to correlate between students’ motivation and students’ perception. The population and sample of this study were 3 classes consisting 31 students at Independent English Learning Tutoring. The research instrument was questionnaire, and then the data analysis was using percentage formula.

The result showed that students interested learning english vocabulary using flashcard but there was no correlation between students’ perception of flashcard on their motivation learning vocabulary. Their motivation came from their intrinsic motivation but flashcard has significantly stimulated students to learn english. As the result, the researcher found out that there is no significant correlation between students’ perception and students’ motivation in learning english vocabulary using flashcard at Independent English Learning Tutoring.
