SHURI’S MONOMYTH IN BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER FILM (2022)
This research explores the hero's journey through the character of Shuri in the 2022 film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The analysis employs Joseph Campbell's concept of the monomyth. This research uses a qualitative method and draws on data consisting of scenes and dialogues from the main protagonist in the film, Shuri. The findings reveal that three phases of the monomyth are present in the film: departure, initiation, and return. Furthermore, each phase comprises a total of 17 stages. The results of this study indicate that Shuri has passed all the phasesand faced 11 out of 17 stages. Shuri’s narrative arc reflects the cyclical nature of the hero’s journey, highlighting themes of grief, resilience, and the burden of legacy, making her a modern hero whose journey resonates with contemporary audiences.
