This study was conducted to find out the difficulties of speaking experienced by the Fourth Semester Students of the English Language Education Department of Mulawarman University. The researcher explored what factors caused speaking difficulties and how the students overcome this particular problem. This study used mixed-method design. This study involved 46 English Education Department students from Mulawarman University. The quantitative data were taken from the questionnaire and the qualitative data were taken from the interview. This study found that the students in the English Education Department have difficulties in speaking but the students also notice this problem and they are willing to overcome this by finding out their own strategy.
