This study is ecocriticism research that analyzes the environmental issues that occur in Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) film and how the Avatar (Jake Sully) and Na’vi people (humanoid or aliens) deal with those issues. This research uses the concept of ecocriticism theory from Greg Garrard such as pollution, wilderness, animals, and the earth to explain the environmental issues that occur in the film. Also, the researcher uses Sandler’s environmental justice concept to explain how the Avatar (Jake Sully) and Na’vi people (humanoid or aliens) deal with those issues. The data of this research is collected in the form of several dialogues and screenshots in the film and explained using the qualitative research method. The result of this research shows several environmental issues portrayed in this film, which are air pollution, forest fires, poaching, destruction of animal ecosystems, Pandoras’ forest, and marine ecosystems. Furthermore, by using the concept of environmental justice, the researcher also found some ways how the Avatar (Jake Sully) and Na’vi people (humanoid or aliens) deal with environmental issues such as fight against the Sky People; destroying Sky People’s train; taking weapons; and blocking mining access to protect the Tulkuns.
