The Hero's Journey of Irene Palmer in The Nun II Film
This research is monomyth research that analyzes the stages of the hero’s journey that occur in the film The Nun II and how the character Irene goes through these stages. This research uses the monomyth theory or hero’s journey, the idea of Joseph Campbell, which divides the stages of the hero’s journey into three parts with seventeen sub-parts of the total stages. This research is a study of the hero’s journey taken from a horror genre film. Data from this research was collected in the form of dialogue and action scenes in the form of screenshots and then narrated using qualitative research methods. The results of this research showed that there are twelve stages of the hero’s journey that the character Irene goes through, namely the call to adventure, refusal of the call, supernatural aid, the belly of the whale, the road of trials, the meeting with the goddess, atonement with the father, apotheosis, the ultimate boon, the magic flight, rescue from without, and freedom to live.
