This research aims to determine the role of fraud symptoms in preventing fraud, supported by fraud detection as mediation in following up on fraud symptoms at the East Kutai Regency Inspectorate Office. Fraud symptoms themselves are an adaptation of the redflag concept which provides signs that there are indications of fraud. Therefore, even though it is still just a symptom of fraud, a fraud detection variable is needed to ascertain whether the symptoms that arise are an indication of fraud in the context of fraud prevention.
