The teaching system changed to be fully online in 2020, due to the covid19 virus. Speaking class uses a lot of student interaction to practice and group discussion. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many obstacles have occurred including teaching and learning activities in several educational institutions which have caused schools to close their students for an undetermined period. This study aimed to identify the teacher's perception of Zoom meetings on students’ speaking ability in English class. This study used a qualitative method, which involved two teachers of the SMP 16 Samarinda as the research participants. The researcher used an interview question to interview the participants. The results of the research on teacher perceptions of Zoom meetings show that teachers at SMP16 Samarinda feel that Zoom meetings help teaching and learning activities for students and teachers, especially students' speaking skills in English have improved slightly while using Zoom meetings for learning media during the pandemic
