Hero's Journey of Captain America: The First Avenger Film (2011)
This research focuses on the main character Steve Rogers’s journey as a hero in Captain America: The First Avenger Film (2011) by applying the theory of Joseph Campbell. This research used qualitative research and a structuralist approach. Petrie and Boggs's theory is used to describe the representation of the hero’s journey through characterization. As a result, Steve completes all points, including the stage for something with reason, the stage to fight their weakness, and to face the very evil. The result of this research is the three phases and eleven stages that can be found such as departure: the call to adventure, refusal of the call, supernatural aid, and the crossing of the first threshold, initiation: the road of trials, the meeting with the goddess, atonement with the father, apotheosis, and the ultimate boon, return: master of two worlds, and freedom to live. Based on the analysis, Steve still showed the aspect of the hero’s journey even though not all stages were depicted.
