The research entitled “The Hierarchy of Needs Reflected in Bethany Hamilton’s Character in Soul Surfer Film” presents research problems about what level of needs are revealed through of the main character in Soul Surfer film named Bethany Hamilton and how Bethany fulfilled her needs based on Abraham Maslow’s theory of hierarchy of needs. In this research, the researcher used Abraham Maslow’s theory of hierarchy of needs and the characterization theory by Boggs and Petrie to analyze. The researcher used a qualitative method and psychological approach of the research. The data are collected from the dialogue and conversation, the picture or screenshot taken from the film, and the film script to support the analysis. The results of this research show that Bethany as the main character in the film fulfills all the types of needs. Those needs are physiological needs, safety needs, esteem needs, love and belonging needs, and self-actualization needs.
