Critical Discourse Analysis of Japan's Prime Minister Speech Response to China's Suspension of Imports of Marine Products
This research analyzes the Japanese prime minister's response speech regarding China's suspension of fisheries imports. This research aims to reveal the socio- cultural aspects based on Norman Fairclough's three-dimensional framework that focuses on analyzing socio-cultural practices. The speech delivered by the Japanese prime minister stated the condition of the Japanese economy after the suspension of imported products by China. Socio-cultural practices in this speech truly served the three aspects. The results of this research revealed that there are three aspects found in the speech, they are the economic aspect as an aspect that is often discussed by the prime minister and this aspect is used by the Japanese prime minister to gain profits and anticipate losses in the fisheries and marine industry, the political aspect is identified as the thing that Japan used to take diplomatic steps, and the cultural aspect is used to identified the values that have been conveyed by the Japanese prime minister. In this speech, the socio-cultural implications found are the mention of economic issues in the speech, the use of economic terms, and the living conditions of the people contained in the Japanese prime minister's speech.
