The issues of rejection and interpersonal acceptance are critical aspects of human interaction that can affect the psychological well-being of humans. The issue of social rejection comes when human efforts to adapt are unacceptable to the environment because of differing views of life, beliefs, race, ethnicity, and so forth. Humans who experience rejection believe that they are worthless and struggle with themselves. The issue of rejection is one of the realities of society that can be reflected in literature. One is to be found in a film's literary work entitled Encanto. The issue of rejection can be found through the Mirabel character. This study is a qualitative research that analyzes the content of a film asits data analysis technique. The focus of this study is on the issue of rejection experienced by Mirabel and the effect of the rejection by using IPARTheory from Ronald P.Rohner. This study analyzed Mirabel’s character in the context of the rejection issue. The result of this study suggested that Mirabel received all these acts of rejection from Alma Madrigal, her grandmother. Mirabel also had eight of the nine rejection effects as an effect from the rejection she experienced. Impaired self-esteem, Impaired selfadequacy, and anxious are the most dominant effects.
