Figurative language is that used figure of speech which means someone says something that contains figure of speech and has an unliteral meaning. The use of figurative language in literature makes it more enthralling and interesting. The design chosen in this research is qualitative research design. The qualitative methodology employed in this study to examine the figurative language in various songs is demonstrated. The researcher will explain how the figurative language is used in the statement and what it means in relation to its context. Source of all this data was taken from Album by Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. After following the procedures of the analysis of figurative language in The Tortured Poets Department by Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande “The Eternal Sunshine”. The researcher has taken the conclusions of the research as in the following: The figurative language found in the selected album The Tortured Poets Department by Taylor Swift and Eternal Sunshine by Ariana Grande have the same dominant figurative language which is hyperbole. There are 3 hyperbole in The Tortured Poets Department And Eternal Sunshine. Songwriting styles show distinct differences in many aspects, including subject matter, vocal and melodic styles, song structures, and lyrical approaches. While Swift tends toward personal narratives and complex stories, Grande explores broader themes with powerful vocals and dynamic melodies. Despite these differences, both have captivated listeners worldwide with their incredible songwriting abilities.
