STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION TOWARDS THE USE OF SONGS TO LEARN PRONUNCIATION
This study explores students’ perceptions of using English songs to learn pronunciation and the difficulties students face when learning pronunciation. Descriptive quantitative analysis was used as the research method, analyzing 34 students in the English Department in 2021 at Mulawarman University. The researcher used a questionnaire as the instrument. The findings demonstrated that the students had positive perceptions of English songs as a tool for learning pronunciation (93.3%). English songs have been successful in improving the students’ pronunciation skill. The results showed that students had positive opinions about English songs as a pronunciation-improvement technique. These findings highlight the value of music in language learning for skill development as well as increased motivation and engagement among students. The study concludes by noting that pronunciation is a significant difficulty for students, primarily because
of their native tongues. These results highlight the necessity of specific tactics and tools in language instruction to address these pronunciation issues successfully.
