STUDENTS PERCEPTION OF USING YOUTUBE INLEARNING SPEAKING SKILLS AT STATE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 10 PENAJAM IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2023/2024

This study aims to understand students’ perception on YouTubetoincrease their speaking skills at state Junior High School 10 Penajam. The designof this study was a mixed method. The sample of this study was 105 students at third grade of Junior High School 10 Penajam who used YouTube in LearningSpeaking Skills. The data were collected using a perception questionnaire andinterview. Based on the research findings, the research question was to knowtheperception on using YouTube in learning speaking skills. According to the result, it could be concluded that there were 1 Very Positive perception (8,3%), 11Positive perception (91,7%), no Negative perception, and no Very Negativeperception. Overall, it means that the students’ perception toward using YouTubein learning speaking skills was generally resulting in Positive perception (100%). indicating the students in question tend to show, maintain, accept, acknowledge, and implements the concept of learning speaking skills via YouTube that applyinthe class with care and reaping the benefits. Positive perception also means thestudents were taking encouraged stances, which they were willing to involvethemselves in using YouTube in learning speaking skills because theyacknowledge its importance or due to teacher’s direction even using it for other reasons like group work or class projects.
