STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION ON TRANSLANGUAGING IN ENGLISH LEARNING VIDEOS PROVIDED BY EKSIS PUBLICATION IN STUDENTS WORKSHEET FOR JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN SMPN 6 SAMARINDA

This study aims to determine the type of translanguaging used by the teacher and the students‘ perspective to the translanguaging used by the teacher in the English learning video provided in the students‘ worksheet by EKSIS Publication. The researcher used a mixed-method research design (sequential exploratory strategy), using an observation, documents analysis, questionnaire to collect the data. The sample for the questionnaire is 144 students taken by random sampling technique from the 8 grade of junior high school in SMPN 6 Samarinda. The data analysis from observation and documents analysis showed that the teacher used translanguage within one language, translanguaging through several named language, and translanguaging through translation with the type of translanguaging, translanguaging through several named language, became the mostly used by the teacher in the English learning video. The result of the questionnaire revealed that the students had positive perception about the teacher‘s use of translanguaging, as an evidenced by a mean 35.88 and classified as positive because it makes them felt more confident, secure, and had a better knowledge when the teacher uses translanguaging while delivering the material.
