ANDRIYANI BETHARINA. Agriculture Faculty of Mulawarman University, 2007. The effect Kinds of Material and Fruit Veil Period to intensity of Fruitfly pest attack (Bactrocera dorsalis Hend.) and Result of crop Pare (Momordica charantia L.) (Supervised by Tjatjuk Subiono and Abdul Sahid).
The study aimed to (1) know influence of fruit veil in order to control B. dorsalis in M. charantia, (2) know the best veil material in control B. dorsalis in M. charantia, and (3) know influence of M. charantia veil period to attack intensity of B. dorsalis.
The study conducted approximately in five months, starting from June to October 2006. The study placed in Mugirejo, Samarinda Ulu subdistrict, City of Samarinda. The Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) was used in this study by Factorial treatments of 3 x 3 with four replications. The first factor was kind of material (A) consist from three levels, these were (1) a = Control (without treatment), (2) a 1= using plastic bag, (3) a
= using newspaper, the second factor was veil period (L) consist from three levels, these were : (1) l1= three days, (2) l2= six days, (3) l32= nine days/until harvesting, data analyzed by Analysis of Variance and continued with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) by significant level of 5%.
The study result showed that (1) Veil treatment had a significant influence to control B. dorsalis in M. charantia, B. dorsalis attack percentage in veil treatment was lower than control (without treatment), (2) M. charantia veil by newspaper had a tendency to supress B. dorsalis attack intensity more than veil by plastic bag and, attack intensity average by newspaper was 21,101%, and (3) M. charantia veil period was highly influenced to B. dorsalis attack intensity and the most effective veil period to suppress B. dorsalis attack intensity was 9 days/until harvesting.
