This research aims to determine the characteristics of the bourgeoisie from the Baroness’s character and the characteristics of the proletariat as well as the form of class struggle from the character Estella in the Cruella film 2021. Class struggle is an act of resistance between two social classes, explained in Marxist theory that social classes are divided into two, namely the proletariat (lower class) and the bourgeoisie (upper class). This research data was obtained from four types of characterization proposed by Petrie and Boggs with depictions related to the bourgeoisie, the proletariat, and the class struggle. The four types of characterization include characterization through dialogue, appearance through clothing and props, internal actions through the character's thoughts, and external actions through the main character's response to the other actions of the characters. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods with Karl Marx's theory of class struggle by identifying the bourgeoisie and the proletariat and analyzing the class struggle in the Cruella film 2021. Furthermore, the Baroness’s character in the film is a bourgeoisie while Estella’s character is a proletariat who then carries out class struggle by showing her identity through the results of her clothing designs which are used to gain social status like the bourgeoisie and change her economic situation. What can be underlined from the result of this research is that characterization emerged through dialogue, appearance, thoughts, and actions of class struggle which occurred as a result of Estella's creativity in changing her appearance so that her social status resembled that of the bourgeoisie so that no one would underestimate her.
