This research analyses the President Press Conference of FIFA in Qatar 2022. The objective of this research was to unveil the discourse framework of the FIFA president's speech delivered at the opening of the FIFA World Cup on November 19th, 2022. The theory used in this research is Fairclough’s three-dimensional framework. This research used the descriptive qualitative method and critical discourse analysis as an approach. The data of this research were taken from the 2022 FIFA presidential speech. The result of this research showed that the meaning
of the FIFA World Cup president's speech covered all of Fairclough’s three-dimensional framework: text analysis dimension, discursive practice analysis dimension, and socio-cultural analysis dimension. First, in the text analysis dimension, Infantino Gramsci’s speech fulfilled the hierarchy of grammatical structures built complete (phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics). In the phonology aspect, it is just used as a rhyme rather than alliteration and assonance. In the morphological aspect, it is used various types of inflectional word classes but did not change the meaning in assembling his speech. Further, the aspects of syntax and semantics are the ones that appeared the most, he wants to show that what he says is grammatically correct and that through semantics he communicates the meaning of his speech. Second, the discursive practice analysis dimension involved three discursive processes in constructing his speech which connected discourse with social practice. Third, the social practice analysis dimension represented the economic aspect that FIFA has investment funds that are allocated to immigrant workers. On the political aspect, it found, through his position as leader, invited people to take part in the 2022 Qatar World Cup celebrations. Meanwhile, in the cultural aspect, it was promoted by FIFA as a global organization where spectators come from various countries in the world so they must respect Qatari culture as host of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
