The research was written with the aim of discussing the perspective of postcolonialism, especially in the representation of The Other as represented in Willems, who is the main character in the novel. Data was collected from word, narration, phrases, sentences also paragraphs in Joseph Conrad's novel entitled An Outcast of the Islands. this study is concerned about representation of different, foreign, inferior and savage. This research resulted in a discussion of Willems as the main character who is depicted through three representation of the Other, namely representations of Different, Foreign, Inferior and Savage. This representation is about how people from western continental depict people in the eastern continental. In this case, the findings shows that those representations are characterized in Willems's character mostly in indirect presentation and it is found that only one data that is characterized in direct representation. Deeper, Joseph Conrad as the author presents Willems as the other mostly in indirect representation. The researcher conclude that 'Othering' is not something that just happened to the Eastern country, but it can be happened to the Westerners as well just like Willems. It is hoped that the findings of this research will inspire future literature research with the same in-depth resources of postcolonial analysis.
