This research focused on analyzing the hero’s journey of a character named Buzz Lightyear in a film called Lightyear that was released in 2022. Buzz Lightyear started his journey by arriving on an unknown planet. There he found a lot of things that changed his life and stuck in the middle of nowhere. The researcher used hero’s journey theory by Joseph Campbell, this is a theory that was used to uncover or reveal the journey of a hero to become a hero. The method that the researcher uses is a qualitative methodology and archetypal approach. The data was collected by the dialogues, scenes, and narrations of the main character Buzz Lightyear. The result of this research is that Buzz Lightyear has gone through the 17 stages of monomyth which are portrayed by the characterization through dialogue where Buzz vocalizing his thoughts, the characterization through external action where Buzz real action was shown in the film, the characterization through internal action where Buzz tried to show what he feels indirectly, and the characterization through appearances where it showed the commander appear to be mad at Buzz. Therefore, after Buzz Lightyear has gone through the hero's journey stages he became the hero in the Lightyear film.
