This study aimed to examine the types of figurative language and context used by the main character in the movie Purple Heart 2022, which was released in 2022. The data was taken from Cassie Salazar's utterances as the main character in the movie. The research used Perrine's figurative language theory, employing a qualitative descriptive method approach. The findings of this study revealed six types of figurative language used by the main character in the movie. The study found that the main character employed metaphor, personification, symbol, hyperbole, understatement, and irony. The most dominant figurative language used by the main character was irony, where utterances were contrary to reality, followed by hyperbole, a term used in language to describe exaggerated statements or words that were not meant literally for emphasis or effect. The study underscored that irony and hyperbole were frequently used to create emotional impact, contain elements of humor, and express the critical attitude or sarcasm of the main character.
