PSYCHOPATH BEHAVIOR AS REFLECTED IN THE FILM PEARL (2022)
This research discusses psychopathic behavior in the film Pearl by Ti West. Psychopaths are social predators who charm, manipulate, and destroy hope and exhibit impulsive behavior. This research aims to determine the behavior and types of psychopathy in the daily life of the main character of the film Pearl. This research used qualitative methods and a psychological approach. The researcher uses Stefan H. Verstappen's theory of psychopathy to answer the research questions, i.e the types and behavior of psychopath. The results of this research showed that there are five types of psychopaths found in the main characters, i.e narcissists, the victim, con artists, malevolent psychopath and secondary psychopath, but secondary psychopath was the type of psychopath that stands out in the main character. Then, there are seven psychopath behaviors contained in Pearl's, i.e lack of empathy, lack of remorse, grandiosity, impulsive behavior, lacking goals, compulsive lying and manipulative. Manipulative was behavior that stands out in the main character which tended to lie, intimidate and manipulate.
