Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs theory is a psychological theory that is used to understand personality development so that humans can take advantage of the potential that develops through motivation in fulfilling their needs. This research aims to reveal Ally's needs fulfillment process viewed by Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs theory and to indicate the developments in Ally's character during the process of fulfilling her needs in the film A Star is Born (2018). This research applied a psychological approach dealing with Abraham Maslow‟s theory of
motivation. This research used the qualitative method. This research found that Ally's character managed to fulfill the five levels of human needs from the most basic needs to the highest level needs starting from Physiological needs, Safety needs, Love and Belongingness Needs, Esteem Needs, and Self-actualization Needs. Then it found, in fulfilling the third level of needs or Love and
Belongingness Needs, Ally experiences character development from initially feeling unconfident about her physical appearance, to slowly showing self-confidence. The self-confidence that emerges from within Ally makes her manage to fulfill her Esteem Needs and Self-Actualization Needs by successfully achieving her dream of becoming a famous singer.
