The thesis is entitled The Psychological Development of the Main Character in Shutter Island Film: Jacques Lacan’s Psychoanalysis Theory. The film is about the journey of Andrew, a man with a mental disorder as a delusional character in his medical years. The writer analyses how Andrew's psychological development was developing by using Jacques Lacan's theory of psychoanalysis before and after treatment. The method applied in this thesis is qualitative descriptive method. The writer collects data relevant for writing this thesis from the reference books and the internet in the aim to find appropriate information about the topic. The writer hopes that this thesis can be useful for the reader in developing knowledge about the psychological development which can be found in film character, and also can help the reader in understanding how the moral messages can be delivered in the film Shutter Island.
