This study discusses the personalities of two main characters named Sebastian and Mia in La La Land film. The theory applied to this study is the psychoanalysis theory of the human psyche by Sigmund Freud. This thesis uses the personality theory of id, ego, and superego to discover how the characters Sebastian and Mia are portrayed in La La Land's film. Sebastian and Mia are willing to achieve their dream; Sebastian has a dream to open up his jazz club music, and Mia plans to become an actress. The characters of Sebastian presented as ambitious, stubborn, supportive and also self-conscious. Meanwhile Mia are presented as ambitious, stubborn, hard working and self-confident and the analysis reveals Sebastian and Mia's id, ego, and superego mainly represented by their character.
