This study aims to find out the teacher's strategies in overcoming students' anxiety in speaking English and to find out the impact that students get after the teacher applies strategies in overcoming students' anxiety in speaking English. The data is processed and analyzed with a qualitative design that uses observation and interview to collect data (Documentation is included in each research method). The respondents of this study were an English teacher and 5 students of class XII Language at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Samarinda.
The results showed that the English teacher used three strategies in overcoming students' anxiety in speaking English. The first strategy is games that make students more relaxed and enthusiastic in class, and also make them confident to speak English. The second strategy is group work which can make students more confident in speaking English in class because they will do it with their friends and exchange ideas. The last strategy is using Student L1 which can make students easily understand what they are told or explained so that students understand better and do not misunderstand. As a result of the research, the use of several strategies applied by teachers can make students feel that learning is not boring, comfortable, more confident and do not feel anxious when speaking English.
