EFL teacher’s beliefs is a strong belief about teaching-learning assessment
that is displayed by what the teacher does in accordance to what the teacher beliefs.
This study aimed; (1) To find out the beliefs that exist in the EFL teacher’s in
assessing formative, (2) To find out the practice of written formative English
assessments in the actual classroom of the EFL teacher, and (3) To determine whether the EFL teacher's actions are consistent with her beliefs. This study used a case study. The participant of this study was the EFL teacher of SMA Budi Luhur who was selected with convenience sampling. Interviews and documentation were used to collect data for this study. The result showed that EFL teacher’s have many beliefs namely, the EFL teacher’s beliefs about assessment, the EFL teacher’sbeliefs about strategy of formative assessment, teacher’s beliefs about benefits of
formative assessment, the EFL teacher’s beliefs about purposes of formative assessment, and the EFL teacher’s beliefs about challenges of formative
assessment. She beliefs that formative assessment is on-going assessment, not the
end of a chapter or lesson. In the document section the EFL teacher provides as a supporting document. Documents that have been collected are lesson plans, assessment rubrics, assignments, and daily review assessments.
