We Have Always Lived In The Castel is a film that tells the story of a character named Merricat who has experienced trauma in her childhood caused by her evil parents and also trauma to the people of her town who hate her and her
family . This film focuses on depicting Merricat who has an abnormal character with mental disorders. The aim of this study is to analyze the symptoms of PostTraumatic-Stress Disorder (PTSD) disorder in Merricat's character. PTSD is a
mental disorder that occurs in a person due to experiencing a traumatic event. This research can increase knowledge and awareness about mental illnesses related to trauma. The method applied in this study is a qualitative description method and a psychological approach because it aims to analyze character using the psychological theory of PTSD from Khatrina Phillips and her colleagues. The results of the study found Merricat met the four criteria for PTSD symptoms,
namely intrusion symptoms, persistent avoidance of stimuli, negative alterations in cognitions and mood, and marked alterations in arousal and reactivity where each criterion has its own characteristic symptoms.
