This research focuses on exploring the hero's journey as depicted in the character of Arthur in the film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. The research utilizes both Bordwell and Thompson's plot theory and Joseph Campbell's hero's journey theory to analyze data derived from Arthur's actions and dialogues throughout his journey towards becoming a hero. The analysis reveals that Arthur undergoes ten out of the seventeen stages outlined in Joseph Campbell's hero's journey theory, including the call to adventure, refusal of the call, supernatural aid, belly of the whale, the road of trials, meeting with the goddess, atonement with the father, apotheosis, ultimate boon, and freedom to live. The conclusion drawn from this analysis is that while Arthur does not go through all of the hero's journey stages, he can still be considered a hero due to his successful achievement of his goals.
