Many people generally experience an urge or demand that is not successfully met, the demand is caused by unknown behavior or other factors. In situations like that usually, a person feels anxious, in which consciously or unconsciously the Ego raises self-defense to reduce unpleasant feelings. This study aims to analyze the type of anxiety experienced by Violet Markey, the main female character in All the Bright Places film, and also analyze the defense mechanisms used by Violet Markey to reduce anxiety. This study uses a qualitative method and a psychoanalysis approach from Sigmund Freud’s theory. In this research, the researcher collects data from the conversations and actions of the characters in the film. The results of this study show ten data that indicated anxiety and seven data that indicated a defense mechanism. In this analysis, there are three types of anxiety and all of these types are in the analysis, then there are three out of ten forms of defense mechanisms contained in the analysis.
