Island Waters in Berau Regency (Supervised by Aditya Irawan and Lili Inderia
Sari).
The aim of this reseach was to know type and kind number of Sea Star
population in Average of Coral Reef in Intertidal Zone on Sangalaki Island
Waters, Derawan District, Berau Regency. The study conducted starting from
April-August 2008.
The study area grouped in 4 observation station (Nort, East, South, and
West) in 3 different points that were point 1 (highest high tide), point 2
(intertidal), point 3 (lowest subside) by using belt tansect method. The
identification data of sea star analyzed with indeks of density, diversity (H'),
evennes (E), and dominancy (C).
The found identification result of Sea Star were 6 families and 8 species.
The range of Sea Star density was ranged in point 1: 3-26 ind/m², point 2: 8-25
ind/m², and point 3: 9-21 ind/m². Arm leght of Sea star species in all the four
station ranged between 4-14,1 cm, arm width ranged between 0,1-2,7 cm, and
diameter of arm ranged between 0,1-2,7 cm. The ranged of diversity indeks was
in point 1: 0-0,689, point 2: 0,687-1,082, and point 3: 0,995-1,228. evenness
indeks point 1: 0-0,994, point 2: 0,902-0,982, and point 3: 0,886-0,975. and
dominancy indeks point 1: 1-0,504, point 2: 0,433-0,506, and point 3: 0,4071,071.
