The purpose of this research was to investigate how well students' reading interest and their critical thinking skills are and the correlation between these two variables. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design as its methodology. The sampling technique used in this research was random sampling. In this study, 33 students served as samples. Two instruments were used to gather the students’ data.; questionnaire and critical thinking skills test. In order to examine the data, descriptive statistics and Spearman Rank Correlation were used in the SPSS 23. The result indicated that the reading interest of the students was good with an average score of 47.24 and their critical thinking skills were moderate with an average score of 43.64. The score of correlation coefficient is - 0.232 which in the interval of 0.00 – 0.25 and Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.193 > 0.05. It implies that H₀ is accepted and Hₐ is rejected. According to the findings, there was no correlation between students' interest in reading and their critical thinking abilities. In other words, every increase in the students’ reading interest has no relationship to the increase in students’ critical thinking skills.
