Deconstruction towards the Characters of Green Book Film
This research discusses about the difference between two main characters namely Dr. Don shirley as a black and tony as a white. They have polar opposite
backgrounds with wildly contrasting personalities get thrown together under unusual circumstances in Greenbook film. The researcher analyzed two main
characters of Green Book film through binary opposition in which arising the opposite views of the previous fixed views. The researcher used a descriptive
qualitative method and deconstructive approach by Bressler (1998) to analyzed the construction of the text data. The results of the data showed a new perspective of the characters including the idea of Tony’s character who is considered a bad person, but in other views, these characters is Good person . Then Dr. Don Shirley’s character is considered a Superior and Mannered person but in other contexts, these
characters are Inferior and unmannered. This makes people aware of points of view or perspective that have been structured and have been mutually agreed upon which cannot guarantee that these aspects are always correct.
