Psychopathy of Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile Film
This research aims to find how are the psychopathic behavior reflected byTed Bundy in the film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile directed by Joe Berlinger. This film tells about Theodore Robert Bundy or who also known as Ted Bundy who notorious serial killer in 1970s. This research uses Psychopathy theory by Stefan.H Verstappen. This research uses qualitative method. The data from this research are scenes and dialogues from the character which shows five psychopathic behaviors. The psychopathic behavior depicted in the film are lack of empathy where Ted has no feelings and emotions through others, impulsive behavior where Ted never making decisions without thinking the consequences, grandiosity where Ted is arrogant and overproud over himself, compulsive lying where Ted always lying and manipulative where Ted likes to trap his victims by using their emotions. These are five of the eleven psychopathic behaviors found throughout the film. Psychopathy in the film have an important role in the plot of the story to distinguish psychopathic behavior and reality to make the audience understand what happened in this film.
