Didik Sucahyo,Dip.,TESL,M.Pd In this study, the researcher was interested in describing the speaking problems by the ten graders at SMK Medika Samarinda in academic year 2022/2023. Descriptive qualitative research was used as design of this study. The sample of this research consist of 33 students in Nursery A class. The data were obtained through the speaking test and questionnaire. Based on speaking test and questionnaire, the students faced some problems related to pronunciation, fluency, grammar and vocabulary. The questionnaire also showed additional findings where students faced other problems, namely low self-confidence, unmotivated, anxiety, shyness and afraid of making mistakes. Next, there are some factors resulting problems of speaking to the students, firstly lack of opportunity to practice both inside and outside the classroom, unfamiliar words pronunciation, student finds that English is not important enough for their future, some students feels that their class too crowd and not effective enough to increase their English skill and also having inappropriate class hours, and some students feeling their instructors not having interesting teaching style, use their mother tongue too often, are not assertive in teaching and the last, the students feels get punished too harshly.
