STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION ON USING TIKTOK AS LEARNING MEDIA TO IMPROVE EFL LEARNERS’ SPEAKING ABILITY
This study concerns students’ perceptions of using Tiktok as a learning media to improve their speaking ability. The purposes of this study were: (1) To know the students’ perceptions of using Tiktok as a learning medium to improve learners’ speaking abilities. (2) To know the aspect categories of students perception on using Tiktok as learning media to improve speaking ability. The design of this study was quantitative research. The population of this study was 100 students of the fourth semester (batch 2022) of the English Education Department of Mulawarman University. The first findings showed that English students’ perceptions were in the positive category, where the mean score was 37,21. It indicated that students agreed that using the Tiktok application as their learning medium to improve their speaking ability was effective. The second finding showed that the aspect categories of students perceptions of using Tiktok are affective, with motivation as its sub-indicator. It can be concluded that the Tiktok application can motivate students to improve their speaking abilities.
