PREJUDICE TO THE INFERIOR RACES IN HEART OF DARKNESS NOVELLA BY JOSEPH CONRAD
This study aims to discuss the forms of prejudice in Marlow's character towards the African Congo in Joseph Conrad's Novella entitled Heart of Darkness. The data was a Novella by Joseph Condrad. Thus, it used the theory of Prejudice from Gordon Allport and Narrative Fiction from Rimmon Kennan. In this literature, the study used qualitative research methods and a content analysis approach. The results of this study indicated that antilocution several brands of stereotypes or prejudices given to African society by superior race (white people), avoidance (social exclusion), discrimination (exile, forced labor etc), physical attack which are founded as violent attack and extermination are the ultimate scale act of prejudice which are elimination undesired group of people. The dominant data were found such as antilocution (negro and black people) and physical attack (verbally or physically attack towards the African people) and extermination (lynching and genocide) was the scarced data were found in this resesarch. The highlights are in the Novella in Heart of Darkness the forms of society that white people prejudiced against other races and still happen in the modern era right now.
