This research aims (1) to analyze the types of conversation implied in Joe Biden’s pandemic Covid-19 interviews and (2) the aspects of conversational interactions used in Joe Biden’s pandemic Covid-19 interviews. The research used the conversation analysis theory by Bryan Paltridge using a qualitative method and content analysis approach. Thus, the data were taken from two interviews with Joe Biden as the President of the United States, about the pandemic Covid-19 in the US with two different interviewers, which are David Muir as the interviewer from ABC News, and Jimmy Fallon as the interviewer from The Tonight Show, released in 2021. The results of this research show two types of conversation, which are informal conversation and formal conversation, that are used in the first interview. In contrast, the second interview used only informal conversation. From the aspects of conversational interactions, the second interview consists of all seven aspects of conversational interaction, which are opening conversation, turn-taking, adjacency pairs, preference organization, repair, feedback, and closing conversation. Meanwhile, the first interview only used five of seven aspects of conversational interaction, which is not found in the opening and closing conversation in the dialogue between the interviewer and the interviewee. The highlights of this research are the dialogue between Joe Biden and two interviewers, mainly using informal conversation even in formal situations, and seven aspects of conversational interactions as the prominent entities that sometimes not all of them are used in a conversation.
