The purpose of this study were: (1) to find out the level of students’ motivation in speaking English. (2) to find out the level of students’ self-confidence in speaking English. (3) to find out whether there is any correlation between students’ motivation and students’ self-confidence in speaking English. The design of this study was correlational research by using quantitative approach. The population of this study was The Sixth Semester Students of English Department at Mulawarman University with the total of 104 students and 50 students
were taken as the sample by using purposive sampling. The instruments used were Intrinsic Motivation questionnaire and Self-Confidence questionnaire. The questionnaires consisted of 25 items. To analyze the data, the researcher used PPMCC (Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and SPPS 26 Program. This study revealed the following findings: (1) the students’ had very high motivation level were in 85 score and high motivation were 73 score, the mean score of students’ motivation was 79,8. (2) the students; had very high self-confidence level were in 85 score and high motivation were 71 score, the mean score of students selfconfidence was 78,04. (3) the correlation between students’ motivation and selfconfidence in speaking English rc 0,223 in range 0.20-0.30 was weak correlation or rc 0,223 was lower than rtable 0.279 at the 5% level of significant. Therefore, it can be conclued that there was significant correlation between Students’ Motiavation and Self-Confidence in Speaking English of the Sixth Semester Students at Mulawarman University Samarinda in Academic Year 2021/2022. It can be said that if the score of motivation and self-confidence has a high significant correlation the students’ need to be motivated by the teacher or lecturer
and confidently by themselves to be the future English teacher also they need to having more vocabulary.
