An Analysis of Translation Technique in Tsunami Short Story
This research used Molina and Albir's theory to investigate the translation techniques used in the Tsunami short story. In the order of priority, style is put last. Here the things to reproduce (transfer) is stated, message (Nida and Taber, 12). As a result of the methodology's concentrate on words, phrase and sentence as the data produced in Tsunami short story and the descriptive explanation of the data, descriptive qualitative research was applied to collect the data. This research concluded that literal translation, adaptation, amplification, borrowing, calque, compensation, generalization, modulation, and reduction are all used in translating the Tsunami short story. The results shows that there are eleven techniques in Tsunami short story, they are literal translation is the most dominant technique used by the translator to translate this short story. The translations presented in the Tsunami short story serve as the messages from SL to TL and make the readers easy to understand the story.
