Ecology has become an important term in literary expressions, because of the act of humans in acquiring resources has detrimental effects on the environment. This research study aims to analyze the relationship between humans and the environment or non-humans with ecocriticism in The Day the Earth Stood Still film. This research seeks to identify the environmental issues within The Day the Earth Stood Still film by using the eight-point platform of deep ecology by Arne Naess and also to analyze how the charactersin the film deal with those issues. This study is qualitative research and the researcher uses intrinsic elements to analyze the characters within the film. The data from this study are scenes, dialogues, and character's interactions or actions. In analyzing the data, the researcher identify the eight-point platform of deep ecology and the researcher found 4 out of 8 pointsalso with its solution by the character’s interactionsand characterizations within the film throughout the story, namely 1)The well-being and flourishing of human and non-human life, 2)Richness and diversity of life forms, 3)Present human interference with the non-human world, 4)The ideological change will be mainly that of appreciating life quality.
