The Impact of Corruption and Total Assets on Non-Performing Loan; Evidence from Indonesian Commercial Banks
This study analyzes credit risk of Indonesian commercial banks by examining whether the relation between corruption measures by corruption perception index (CPI) and total assets measures by bank size (SIZE) with non-performing loan (NPL). Using panel data regression models with Eviews 9 tool and data of 106 Indonesian Commercial banks during the year of 2011 to 2020. The main results show there are evidence for the excessive risk-taking of Indonesian commercial bank. A higher-level perception of corruption in the country may increase the NPL banks to become higher than before. Nonetheless, a higher total asset of banks did not affect the NPL owned by bank.
